The Pavilion Café within the National Gallery of Art's peaceful Sculpture Garden was where we were lucky enough to find a place for lunch on Friday, May 1st, in crowded Washington.
Among the sculptures were the Typewriter Eraser, Scale X, 1999, by Claes Oldenburg and Coosje van Bruggen, and one of Barry Flanagan's hares, entitled (with a wink at Rodin) Thinker on a Rock, 1997
Afterwards we walked on past the Museum of Modern Art, where another (beautiful) sculpture caught my eye, this one—Oriform—by Hans Arp.
